Ardi graduated with a Master of Science in Management from Kedge Business School. He had the opportunity to collaborate with world-class academics during international events, contributing to discussions in management and finance. Currently, Ardi works as an analyst in banking supervision at the European Central Bank, specializing in financial risk assessments for various banks. Additionally, he has a deep passion for sports, having played handball at a competitive level for 15 years and won the French Business School Championship. Born in Kosovo and raised in France, he has a European mindset and is fluent in four languages with a keen interest in geopolitics. He served as the vice president of his student club, where he led his team to win the Honourable Mention Delegation Award at the world's largest Model United Nations conference in New York. Committed to community activities, he is involved in charitable organizations. Ardi is a motivated young professional driven by innovation in the business sector and has been honoured with the Business Innovation Award from the Oxford Academy of Excellence for his work.
1. Ardi, could you share a pivotal moment from your own professional journey where you witnessed the power of inspiring change and innovation in the business community?
Reflecting on my experience as a banking supervision analyst at the European Central Bank, a particularly pivotal moment that showcased the power of innovation occurred when I co-led the development of a benchmarking model. This model was designed to meticulously track and assess the investment portfolios of significant banks under our review, representing a substantial value in profit and loss terms.
The creation and implementation of this model marked a significant departure from traditional methods. It required not only technical readjustments but also the ability to communicate complex financial concepts across diverse stakeholder groups. The success of this initiative depended on aligning various interpretations and expectations, which was achieved through a series of strategic discussions and presentations.
The endeavour was challenging, given the complexity of the portfolios and the varying degrees of financial understanding among different audiences. However, the real triumph was witnessing the change it inspired. The project not only enhanced our monitoring capabilities but also set a new standard for transparency and accountability in the banking sector. This initiative underscored the critical role of innovative thinking in transforming business practices and solidified my commitment to driving progressive change within the global financial community.

As a leader in Kosovo's business sector, my vision is focused around inspiring a wave of innovation and fostering a mindset of positive change. Drawing on my extensive experience in international finance, I see myself playing a pivotal role in shaping the future of Kosovo's business landscape. My goal is to cultivate an environment where innovation and entrepreneurial spirit are not just encouraged but are the driving forces behind business strategies. I plan to leverage cutting-edge technologies and sustainable practices to improve local industries, setting a new standard for business operations in Kosovo. One of my key objectives is to establish platforms that facilitate knowledge exchange and foster collaborative efforts both within Kosovo and on an international scale. By creating these networks, I hope to elevate Kosovo's presence in the global European market, showcasing its potential as a hub of innovation and business excellence.
The youth of Kosovo, being part of the youngest population in Europe, represent an untapped wellspring of dynamic and innovative thinking. My vision includes empowering these young minds, providing them with the tools, resources, and guidance they need to become the next generation of entrepreneurs and business leaders. 3. Reflecting on your experiences, can you share a specific challenge you faced in driving innovation, and how you overcame it? What lessons did you learn from that experience?
I encountered a significant challenge in driving innovation within the well-established processes of a company. The task at hand was to implement new innovative tools, a change that was necessary but initially met with resistance. The primary obstacle was convincing my colleagues that these changes were beneficial. It was a complex task, as people often feel comfortable with existing processes and are hesitant to adopt new methods, particularly in a setting where traditions and established methods held strong sway. To overcome this challenge, I focused on demonstrating the tangible benefits of the new tools. This involved presenting clear, data-backed evidence of how these innovations could enhance efficiency, reduce errors, and ultimately contribute to better outcomes for the team and the organization. I also realized the importance of open communication and addressing concerns head-on, providing a platform for my colleagues to voice their apprehensions and questions. One of the key strategies was to start small, implementing the tools in phases, allowing the team to gradually adapt to the changes. This phased approach helped in easing the transition and provided proof of concept at each stage, which slowly built confidence among the team members. The biggest lesson I learned from this experience is that innovation is not just about introducing new tools or processes; it's equally about people and their mindset. Successful innovation requires a sense of a common goal and strong leadership to ensure everyone is involved and committed to the change. It's about building trust and demonstrating value, making sure that the team understands not just the 'how' but also the 'why' behind the innovation. In my journey towards fostering positive change and innovation, there are several leaders who have profoundly influenced my approach. Firstly, I pay homage to Jacques Delors who recently passed away. He was a former President of the European Commission, and a visionary French political figure. His innovative thinking in shaping Europe has always inspired me. His efforts in integrating communities and building a European identity resonate deeply with my own aspirations and career trajectory. Delors' pioneering vision and contribution towards creating a dynamic European environment have been a guiding light in my professional life.
Another figure who significantly influences my approach to innovation is Tim Cook, the CEO of Apple. I am not just impressed by his exceptional managerial skills, which have positioned him as the most financially successful CEO in history, but also by his ability to sustain and evolve Apple’s legacy. Cook's knack for merging technology with design and consistently introducing products that lead market trends showcases a leadership style that is both innovative and forward-thinking. His management of expectations and pressures, especially following in the footsteps of Steve Jobs, is a testament to his leadership and strategic foresight.
Closer to my field, I am also inspired by Christine Lagarde, the President of the European Central Bank. Since assuming her role, she has been a proponent of innovation and collaboration, which are crucial in the rapidly evolving European financial market. Her leadership style, especially her emphasis on innovation in the banking sector, aligns closely with my own professional values and goals. Lagarde's approach to managing a key financial institution in times of change has provided me with valuable insights and inspiration for my own career in finance.

Their influence extends beyond their professional accomplishments; it lies in their ability to inspire and drive transformation in their respective fields. It's clear that when academia, industry, and government align their efforts, the potential for meaningful and sustainable innovation increases exponentially. My future aspirations are centred around sharping my impact within the financial sector, particularly in strengthening the stability and resilience of the European Union’s banking system. I am currently immersed in a significant project at the European Central Bank, which focuses on enhancing banking supervision mechanisms. This initiative aligns seamlessly with my expertise in finance and my deep-seated passion for ensuring financial stability and governance. It's a challenging yet rewarding endeavour that stands at the intersection of my professional skills and personal commitment to financial integrity.
In addition to my professional pursuits, I am equally dedicated to contributing to community development through active involvement in various NGO initiatives. These efforts are geared towards promoting sustainable financial practices and fostering educational programs aimed at economic empowerment. My goal is to enhance financial literacy and economic growth at the local level, thereby contributing to the broader societal welfare.
This dual focus - of influencing the financial sector while also engaging in community upliftment - exemplifies my holistic approach to leadership.
